2008 Fairview Lake Monitoring Report

water-report-2The depth of Fairview Lake varies during the summer from 4.5 to 5.5 feet pretty much from shore to shore.  In clear lakes, sunlight has no problem reaching the bottom and encourages the growth of rooted aquatic plants down to 20 feet or so.

Fairview Lake, however, is usually very turbid due to high winds and the presence of common carp that disturb the soft silty bottom.  The turbidity limits sunlight and thus limits the growth of plants.  If aquatic plants were to become established, it is likely they would grow from shore to shore.
