Volunteers Needed for Osborne Creek Restoration 2/11/12

Submitted by: Bob Dolphin

Event Date: Saturday, February 11, 2012

Begins At: 10:00 AM Ends At: 1:00 PM

Osborne Creek draining into Fairview Lake offers an inspiring sight of sword fern, thimble berry, and resident cutthroat trout. Most impressive is that this is all tucked behind a humble Sandy Blvd convenient store. Since 2003, community members and organizations have been gathering to restore this waterway, one of the three surface streams left in the watershed. February 11th the Columbia Slough Watershed Council will continue this work by hosting a planting party along this 2 acre section of the creek and needs your help. Tools, gloves, and snacks will be provided, but participants should come prepared for all weather conditions. Waterproof footwear is encouraged, as we’ll be working closely along the banks.

Sponsors:
Special tool donation by Beaumont Hardware; Food donated by Panera Cares; Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board

Location:
Osborne Creek
20800 NE Sandy Blvd
